This was somethign i produced for thrid year broadcasting. Its a title sequence for a punk tv show showcasing underground unsigned music. I took my inspiration from the 'TUBE' which was showcased in the 80's.

I used crass logo's and what i knew from the timothy leary mind mapping videos. where the watcher is bambarded with images which pushes you form your comfort zone where learning takes place.

All of this was done on after effects and was alot of fun to produce.

this is the tube

As for doing my drawing and story boards this went really well i spent alot of time thinkign through ideas and all of them i thought were a little ambitious, they are all documented so i can decide to come back to them and might produce them over summer :)

The last few weeks have been alot of fun, iv been doing animations at home and workign for the broadcasting course. One of my friends from the pub commisioned me to do some work which was showcased at areas around falmouth.
This was a koi pond and it was to promote the moor being a fish market before. it was all to do with tradition and was shown on St. georges day. I loved everythig about this project, it was done over the course of 2 weeks and was alot harder than i thought.
I modelled the fish and got lee and tom to modify them so we had 3 models, duplicated these and animated them on different paths.
This was the first time iv used bones and i enjoyed doing this. Bones and rigging are extremely useful and i hope to have more lessons on these.

update

I havnt written in this for a while.
So in the thought of script writting here goes.

OK lets start at xmas for christmas i travelled back to bradford. 10 hours on th train 5 changes. London was fun the tube at 5 4 days before christmas, unfortunatly I didnt realise there was no drinking on the tube and had a bottle of blackthorn, which marks and spencers had thought id stolen. and since they only sell more upper class ciders, i found it amusing a slaes person followed me out trying to see what the label was. He was friendly though so no harm no foul.

on getting home my dad, absolute legend he is had made me a reindeer meat pizza. tastes quite gamey, wouldnt buy it myself but if it was there Id chow it down.

After a whole 2hours talking with parents saw my old boss her boyfriend and her son spencer. travelled to tesco and got some more cider.
i didnt realise 2.5 litres is 11 units of blackthorn, after 22 units and the bottle i drank travelling and my hip flask of strawberry liquor bought by jess hudson i was quite drunk and played on counterstrike until i finally fell asleep.

the next day we went to my gradparents for a few days not alot was happening there but it was great to see them.
when i got back to bradford i saw a few of my older freinds we went to the pub as we were just leaving another good friend was dropping his girlfreind off and we went for a drink at ross's, deciding to meet up christams day around 12 at the upper george.

CHRISTMAS DAY. - woke up not too worse for wear, started slowly presents in my parents room as always with my sister.
got up trackies on flamouth hoody to the pub, 12 oclock. saw many friends good group of lads i grew up with, we chatted for hours slowly consuming many drinks of cider and black. around 3ish i took the short walk home, returning saw my old next door neighbours, family all in the lounge chatting. my mum had tricked me an put beetroot and sweet potato crisps in a bowl do not try them there not good. so i steadily drank and ate for the next four hours. we made small talk and i had a really good time, maybe id grown up a little or maybe it was the cider but seeing my family was a great thing this year. not all about gifts .... call Dickens and get the violins the skinheads heart grew three size's hahahah....
so yea christmas dinner was great, when we were all done i sleapt on the couch then whent to my mates band studio we drank until the wee hours of the morning, played music juggled and pole danced...

boxing day is a blur i dont know what i did then. and 27th is my sisters birthday. again i dont remember what we did, if there was a meal or somethign perhaps. I think her friends came over and i drank and spoke with them all night.
28th back to falmouth trips to asda bought about 100 punds of food & cider. forgot i had to carry it all back, next day st. ives drinking with jess, isobar and water front quick stop at the golden lion.
next day newquay for new year, me an jess dressed up ass kung fu panda and a burlesque girl from a western saloon respectively.

the rest of the time until uni restarted is a blur, i think we then had to make a chew tv ident. i was really happy with this project an attacked it full force. i started by trying to make a newtons cradle with physics of maya i found it was hard to keep them on a single axis, on collision they skewed off at angles. i gave up on physics, and had cylinders really thin constrained to show the pivot and path of the balls. this took a long time to keyframe but was fun.
on to textures i decided on glowing balls, and having the chew letters appear on contact and follow the energy passing through the balls.

i had to present my idea and the thoughts about it to the guys from chew. personally i didnt figure they really needed the thoughts behind it as long as they thought the look was good, so i suiteed up and did my presentation to them in french. i think they were impressed, qui sait???

so finishing off the chew ident, i decided to have floating balls and got rid of the ropes holding them. applied a space background and particle world and textured them with different colored blinns.
the idea for different colors was to add more color to the peice as it was looking very dark.

as we had to make a soundtrack for the piece i figured in space nobody can hear you scream, well proove that wrong so did a nice scream for the final piece.
we all knwo how annoying moonpig/sheila's wheels/cillit bang is soo the more annoying the advert/ident the more attention it gets.

this is a 3d walk cycle i made. using a rig from the internet, and a video i made last week.

Friday 7 November 2008

This is some simple maya work iv been doin recently its taken me a while to upload it but here it is in all its fun to do glory.

this video shows anticipation when the character bends down before the jump.
stretch and squash whilst he's in the air.
and
overlay when he lands as the momentum is carried forward.

these are some of the principles of animation we have learnt so far, its all about exhaggerating the movement.

This Most recent Week,

this week has been pretty hectic.
more life drawing an stop animations.
iv managed to get some of my work uploaded it seems to have lost some of its potency if im been honest but still very fun to do.
iv realised making animations this way is a long painstaking process but also very fun.

using maya i realised if the capslock is on then nothing will work .
lame.
but eventually gettina piece of workl im happy with is very rewarding. heres some of th work iv been making this week, an over the last few weeks.

this is most of my work there is some maya wanting to go up but uploading it has been a right farce.

peace.

2nd week.

In this week we did a few more stop frame animations, which im really enjoying. once i find my pen stick i will upload these. I enjoy these because you actually get a result straight away. Where as on maya you do something an it takes alot longer although the pay off is alot more rewarding.
on maya we have been working with some of the basic principles of animation, squash and stretch, anticipation, and overlap.
Maya we made some basic animations of a ball bouncing using pre-set gizmo's around a ball. manipulating the shape to show the principles of animation.
we watched a few more cartoons/animations, some gothic model animations done by some guy who inspired tim burton. some popeye, an peter and the wolf.
also i had to draw some life drawing which was quite weird as it was a guy, but once i got over my immaturities was really useful.

again when i get myself into gear il upload some stuff.

another top week.

My first week

In my first week i did a couple of poses in a drawing class, one of the poses was with another person from my class. we laid on the floor in a geometric shape.

Also i went to a lecture on drawing my notes instead off writting my notes. i did not find this useful i dont understand what my drawing represents the next day.

then i did some life drawing that was pretty amusing. i feel my drawing has improved and also my enjoyment of drawing too.

erm we watched coonskin. that was well funny. we watched some early animations on gertie the dinosaur, and the train robbery.

we did some stop frame animations with cards an drawings when i get them doen properly il upload them.
all in all its been top.
